Price guide: drive-up against pre-booked

Gatwick's published drive-up rates run far above the pre-booked prices. Eight days in Long Stay at the gate works out at £262, against the pre-booked rate in our table.

Drive-up tariffs from Gatwick's roll-up price list, checked 25 September 2026. The eight-day totals are our sums of those tariffs.

Pre-booked with BCP30, the same 8 days cost £61.60 in Long Stay, £115.50 in Short Stay and £248.50 in Premium Short Stay. You can enter up to two hours before your booked time. Come back late and Gatwick charges per extra day: £15 in Long Stay and Mid Stay South, £50 in Short Stay, £60 in Premium Short Stay and Mid Stay North, £80 in Premium Mid Stay and £30 for Valet. Gatwick also prices Mid Stay, Premium Mid Stay and Valet dynamically, so their rates move with demand. Book as early as you can.

Keep your confirmation on your phone for the day of travel. It has the correct postcode and the terminal details you settled at the start.

On-airport car parks at Gatwick

Gatwick runs Short Stay, Mid Stay, Long Stay and Valet at both terminals, and Premium Mid Stay at North only; you keep your keys in every one except Valet.

North Terminal car parks

At the North Terminal you can choose Short Stay in Car Parks 5 and 6, Mid Stay, Premium Mid Stay, Long Stay and Valet. Premium Mid Stay is the one official product you can only book at North.

Height limits are tight at North. Car Park 5 takes vehicles up to 1.8 metres and Car Park 6 up to 2.1 metres, so a roof box or a tall van may rule out Short Stay. Long Stay has no height limit. Gatwick does not publish an exact postcode for Long Stay North, so follow the airport signs or the map link in your booking.

South Terminal car parks

At the South Terminal you can choose Short Stay in Car Parks 1, 2 and 3, Premium Short Stay, Mid Stay, Long Stay and Valet. South also has an evening deal in Short Stay that North does not offer.

Height limits are a little kinder at South. Short Stay takes vehicles up to 2 metres, and South Mid Stay suits vehicles of any height. The railway station sits under the South Terminal, which helps when someone is meeting you off a train.

Official Long Stay and the free two hours

Official Long Stay is the cheapest car park run by Gatwick, with a free bus every 10 to 12 minutes, day and night. It is also free for the first two hours, which makes it the best place to wait for arriving passengers.

The barrier reads your number plate on the way in and out, and the site is fenced, lit and patrolled by Gatwick's security staff. Gatwick states that Long Stay holds Park Mark Safer Parking approval, the police-backed award for car parks with proper lighting, surveillance and management.

There are no charging points and no height limit, but trailers are not allowed. Long Stay North has 32 Blue Badge bays, and Long Stay South has Blue Badge bays too. Press the intercom when the barrier does not open within 15 seconds. Short Stay and Premium

Short Stay sits a four-minute covered walk from each terminal. Premium Short Stay cuts that to two minutes, with same-level access to the terminal. Both let you keep your keys, and both are priced for short trips.

Premium Short Stay is the most expensive product we bring you at Gatwick, at £31.06 a day; Short Stay costs £14.44 a day. For 8 days, Short Stay costs £53.90 more than Long Stay. Our Gatwick Airport short stay parking guide covers the drive-up tariff hour by hour.

Mid Stay at both terminals

Mid Stay is a pre-book-only car park with a six-minute walk to the terminal, sold at both North and South. Premium Mid Stay, on the same level as the North Terminal, is sold at North only.

Gatwick lists Mid Stay at both terminals: RH6 0JA at North, with a covered walk and a 2.4 metre height limit, and RH6 0NY at South, with no height limit. You keep your keys, the barrier reads your plate, and 24/7 patrols cover the site.

Mid Stay suits a trip of a few days when you want to walk in rather than take a bus. You cannot turn up without a booking, so reserve before you set off. The official Gatwick Mid Stay guide compares the two tiers.

Which car parks let you keep your keys

You keep your keys at Short Stay, Mid Stay, Long Stay and APH Self Park. The other park and ride sites take them at check-in, and meet and greet drivers take them at handover.

Keeping your keys matters to some drivers with keyless or high-value cars. At the key-drop sites, a phone key or a ghost immobiliser may need extra steps, so read your confirmation before the day.

Security at Gatwick's car parks

Gatwick states that its official car parks hold Park Mark Safer Parking approval and are patrolled by its own security staff. The off-airport operators each describe their own measures.

We have not independently verified the operators' own security claims, so we report what each says. Whichever you choose, take valuables with you and leave nothing on show.

Off-airport meet and greet at Gatwick

We compare eleven off-airport meet and greet services at Gatwick. LG Parking is the cheapest at £55.82 for 8 days, and the airport's own Valet (£84.00) is the on-airport alternative that keeps your car on the airport site.

How off-airport meet and greet works at Gatwick

You drive to a meeting point at your terminal, hand the keys to a driver and walk to check-in. The driver takes the car to the operator's compound and brings it back when you land. Most operators ask for a call before you arrive: AMAG 10 to 15 minutes, Bubble, I Love and APH 10 minutes, Meteor 15 minutes and Sure 20 minutes. Ace needs no call on arrival. On return, you call once your bags are off the carousel.

Meeting points at North and South

• Short Stay bays. LG Parking, Sure and Bubble meet you on the ground floor of Car Park 5 at North and on Level 1 of Car Park 3 at South.
• Forecourt. I Love and APH Forecourt meet you at the far end of the drop-off area at both terminals.
• Passenger Drop Off. AMAG meets you there at both terminals.
• Sofitel car park at North. Ace and Purple Parking meet you there; at South, both use Short Stay.
• Meteor. The Approved Operator area at North and the drop-off area at South.

What the meet and greet price covers

APH Forecourt includes the Gatwick forecourt charge, which is £10 for the first 10 minutes, when the registration on your booking is correct. LG Parking and Bubble give you a pre-paid exit ticket for Short Stay, and LG's ticket lasts 10 minutes. Tudor Rose includes the Gatwick access fee each way. AMAG and Meteor hand over at the drop-off area, so ask them how the forecourt charge is handled.

Where meet and greet firms keep your car

AMAG stores cars at Hookwood Park, Reigate Road, which it puts about four minutes from both terminals. Meteor uses a car park by the Travelodge on Povey Cross Road, Hookwood RH6 0BE. Purple Parking's compound sits up to 6 miles away and is manned 24 hours a day. LG Parking is a booking agent: Sure Parking or another operator collects and returns the car. Tudor Rose works the other way round: you drive to its Hookwood car park (RH6 0HQ), and a chauffeur drives you to the terminal in your own car, about four minutes away.

Vehicle limits by operator

• Ace: up to 2 metres; no trailers and no Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari, Maserati or Rolls-Royce.
• Bubble: up to 2 metres; no trailers, commercial vehicles or taxis.
• Sure: 1.8 metres at North and 2 metres at South; no minibuses, long-wheelbase vans or motorhomes; £20 a day for late returns.
• AMAG: long-wheelbase vans cost £10 extra; no trailers, commercial vehicles or minibuses over 8 seats.
• Purple Parking: fewer than 8 seats and a standard 2.4 by 4.8 metre bay; no height limit at North, 2 metres at South.
• I Love and APH Forecourt: cars and minibuses up to 9 seats; no taxis.
• Tudor Rose: a £40 supplement for vehicles over 5.2 metres long.

Off-airport meet and greet against the official Valet

Gatwick's Valet costs £28.18 more than LG Parking for 8 days. It keeps the car in a secure facility on the airport, with the handover on Level 2 of Car Park 6 at North and Car Park 1 at South. Valet sells Premium Car Care and a two-hour 22kW charge as extras. Off-airport, I Love Valet adds an exterior wash for £90.72.

Off-airport park and ride at Gatwick

Four off-airport park and ride car parks serve Gatwick: AVPS, Cophall, APH and Airparks. AVPS is the cheapest product we bring you, and APH is the only one where you can pay to keep your keys.

Every site runs its own shuttle to both the North and South Terminals, so one booking covers either terminal. The table shows each site's address, transfer, key rule and 8-day price with code BCP30.

AVPS Park and Ride at Lingfield

The operator puts the AVPS site in Lingfield 15 to 17 minutes from the airport by road. You leave your key or key card, because staff may move cars within the car park. A car with a Ghost immobiliser needs its access code given to staff. AVPS says it takes double-cab pickups, 9-seat minibuses and vans for an extra fee, and offers EV charging.

Cophall Park and Ride at Copthorne

Cophall costs £60.16 for 8 days, £6.78 more than AVPS. The operator puts its Effingham Road site about 15 minutes from Gatwick and runs transfers to both terminals 24 hours a day. Cophall keeps every key, electric cars included, and gives you a key receipt card. On return, you call the freephone number on the back of that card. Cophall closes on Christmas Day only, and its drivers help with cases, skis and child seats.

APH and Airparks on Copthorne Road

APH and Airparks sell parking from one site on Copthorne Road, off M23 Junction 10. APH lists shuttles every 10 to 15 minutes, a 10 to 12-minute ride to either terminal and staff on site 24 hours a day. APH sells three products there: park and ride at £65.05, park and ride with EV charging at £97.59 and Self Park at £97.60, where you keep your keys. Airparks costs £67.14, £2.09 more than APH's park and ride. The site takes vehicles up to 2.4 metres, with no trailers, and the shuttle carries skis but not bikes or surfboards. On return, APH buses leave from stops 7 and 8 at South and stop 6 at North.

Off-airport park and ride against the official Long Stay

The official Long Stay costs £61.60 for 8 days: £8.22 more than AVPS and £1.44 more than Cophall. Gatwick runs it, its bus leaves every 10 to 12 minutes day and night, and you keep your keys. AVPS and Cophall cost less but hold your keys. With APH Self Park you keep your keys at an off-airport site, for £36.00 more than Long Stay.

Before you drive to a park and ride site

• Use the site postcode. The sites sit in Lingfield, Copthorne and off Junction 10, not at the terminals.
• Hand over the car key only. Take house keys off the ring at AVPS, Cophall, APH and Airparks.
• Tell the driver your terminal. Every shuttle serves North and South.
• Book APH Self Park for a ghost immobiliser. APH otherwise charges a £20 upgrade on arrival.

Dropping off and picking up

The forecourt drop-off charge at both terminals rose to £10 for the first ten minutes on 6 January 2026. Each extra minute costs £1, up to a £30 cap and a 30-minute maximum stay.

Picking up on the forecourt costs the same, so most drivers do better in a car park. Long Stay gives two free hours at both terminals, and the express pick-up bays sit inside Short Stay: Car Park 6 Level 4 at North and Car Park 3 ground floor at South. You must stay with your car there. Blue Badge holders are exempt from the forecourt charge once the vehicle is registered with Times24.

EV charging and Blue Badge parking

Short Stay has eight 22kW chargers, four in South Car Park 3 Level 1 and four in North Car Park 5 Level 3, paid through the POD Point app, and Valet sells a two-hour charge. Long Stay and Mid Stay have none, so electric drivers on a long trip should look at APH or Valet.

Getting to Gatwick by car

Gatwick sits beside the M23, with a spur road from Junction 9 to both terminals. Use the postcode in your booking confirmation, because each car park has its own entrance.

Follow the signs for your terminal first, then for your car park. The off-airport park and ride sites sit in Copthorne, Lingfield and near Junction 10, so their routes differ. Traffic on the M25 and M23 can add a lot of time on a Friday afternoon or a bank holiday. Add the shuttle ride or the walk when you plan your arrival.

Checking your terminal before you travel

Gatwick has two terminals, North and South, and your airline decides which one you use. Check your booking or boarding pass before you choose a car park, because most official car parks come in a North and a South version.

Airlines can move between terminals, so do not rely on last year's trip. Jet2, which opened its Gatwick base in March 2026, flies from the South Terminal. Your airline's confirmation email names the terminal, and so does the Gatwick website's flight search.

Park at the other terminal and the free inter-terminal train takes you across; Long Stay is the exception, because each Long Stay bus serves only its own terminal.
