Short Stay car parks by terminal
North Terminal Short Stay is Car Parks 5 and 6. South Terminal Short Stay is Car Parks 1, 2 and 3. Each sits a four-minute covered walk from check-in.

Put the right postcode in your sat-nav and follow the terminal signs, then the Short Stay signs. North's Car Park 5 has the lowest limit on site, so a roof box may push you into Car Park 6 or another car park.
The drive-up tariff hour by hour
Short Stay starts at £8 for up to 30 minutes and reaches £70 for 12 to 24 hours. Premium starts at £12 and reaches £87.50.

The tariff rises fast after the first few hours. For anything longer than a day, pre-booking brings the price down sharply.
The South Terminal evening special
South Terminal Short Stay costs £25 flat between 5pm and 2am when you book in advance. North Terminal has no equivalent offer.
The deal suits an evening pick-up that might run late, or a meal with someone before they fly. Book it ahead, because the drive-up tariff applies without a booking. Anything past 2am falls outside the offer.
Short Stay and express pick-up
The express pick-up bays sit inside Short Stay: Car Park 6 Level 4 at North and Car Park 3 ground floor at South. They charge normal Short Stay rates, and you must stay with your car.
Gatwick warns that unattended cars in the express pick-up areas may receive a Parking Charge Notice. The bays are for collecting passengers, not for dropping off.

When short stay is worth the price
Short stay earns its price on a trip of a day or two. Over eight days it costs almost twice the official Long Stay, so a longer trip is better served elsewhere.
A business day trip, a weekend away or a late return with heavy bags are the classic cases. For a fortnight, look at Gatwick long stay options instead.
Short stay for business trips
For a day trip or an overnight meeting, Short Stay saves time at both ends. Over one or two days, the gap to the budget car parks is a small sum.
A return business trip often means a dawn departure and a late flight home. A four-minute walk to the car at eleven at night is worth more than the few pounds a shuttle car park would save over a single day. The covered walkway also keeps you dry on the way back.
Book the exact hours you need. The tariff jumps at each band, so an accurate return time keeps the cost down. Add a little slack for a delayed flight, because every extra band costs more.
Charging an electric car in Short Stay
Gatwick has eight 22kW chargers in Short Stay, four at the North Terminal and four at the South. The airport suggests them for drop-offs and collections.
A 22kW charger adds a useful top-up during a pick-up wait or a short trip. For a long trip, the Valet charging option or APH's charging product suits better, because they charge the car for you. Our Gatwick EV charging page compares all of them.
Blue Badge parking in Short Stay
Blue Badge holders can park in Premium Short Stay at the standard Short Stay rate for up to four hours. Stay longer and the full Premium rate applies to the whole visit.
Press the assistance button when you enter and the intercom when you leave, so staff can apply the lower rate. Short Stay has 18 Blue Badge bays at North and 55 at South, close to the terminal entrances. Bays are first come, first served.
Security in Short Stay
Gatwick states that Short Stay has 24-hour patrols and Park Mark Safer Parking approval. Premium adds barrier control on every entrance.
Note your level and bay before you walk away. The car parks are large, and a photo of the level sign saves a search when you come back tired.
