*Eight days, 7 to 14 November 2026. Rows without a link have no guide page yet. Your own dates may price differently, so search above.

Look at the gap between the top and bottom rows., the dearest product costs £24.50 more than the cheapest across eight days. At most airports we cover, that spread is two or three times wider. At Newcastle it is about three pounds a day, which changes how you should choose.

Choosing a walk, not chasing a saving

With prices this close, the real choice at Newcastle is how far you want to walk and whether you want to keep your keys.

Every car park the airport runs is within walking distance of the single terminal. The budget option, Long Stay, is a short walk away. Short Stay 2 is a few minutes on foot, Short Stay 1 is outside the entrance, and Premium Meet & Greet puts you about a minute from check-in. So the real question is how much walking suits this trip, not how much you can save.

Lowest cost

Long Stay. Five to seven minutes on foot, per resellers.

A shorter walk

Short Stay 2. Three to five minutes, no height limit.

The closest spot you park yourself

Short Stay 1, outside the entrance.

Someone else parks

Premium Meet & Greet, a minute from check-in.

For a couple with carry-on bags, Long Stay is hard to argue with. For a family with a buggy and three suitcases in November rain, a few extra pounds a day for Short Stay 1 or Meet & Greet can be the best money spent on the trip.

The airport's own car parks

Newcastle Airport runs every car park on site, from Long Stay to the Premium products beside the terminal. We sell four of them.

Long Stay

The budget car park, within walking distance, with a bus on request.

Short Stay 1

Immediately outside the terminal entrance.

Short Stay 2

A few minutes' walk, cheaper than Short Stay 1.

Premium Meet & Greet

Keys handed to staff at a hotel-style reception.

Express

Drop-off and pick-up, right outside the doors.

Minibus and Van

For vehicles up to 2.9 metres or with more than seven seats.

The airport also sells Premium Fast Track, about 30 metres from check-in with extra-wide bays and a covered walkway, and Premium Long Stay. Neither is in our search. Across its own car parks, the airport says it uses CCTV, fencing, security patrols and number plate recognition, and that they hold Park Mark accreditation.

Long stay at Newcastle

Newcastle's Long Stay is the cheapest car park the airport runs, and it is close enough to walk. Resellers describe about 300 yards, five to seven minutes on foot.

300 ydto the terminal
Buson request, about 2 min
Keepyour keys
Officialrun by the airport

You take a ticket or let the camera read your plate, park in any free space and keep your keys. A bus runs when there are passengers, per resellers, for anyone with heavy bags. The airport points motorcyclists to Long Stay for any stay of a day or more, and puts its Blue Badge bays in Zone A.

Newcastle Park and Fly costs only a few pence a day more than Long Stay and takes your keys, so for most drivers the airport's own car park is the easier pick. Read the Long Stay page for the full detail.

Short stay at Newcastle

Short Stay 1 is outside the terminal entrance; Short Stay 2 is a few minutes further and cheaper. Neither has a height limit.

Short Stay 1Short Stay 2

Per day£13.39£11.99

Both are good for a trip of a night or two, and Short Stay 2 holds its own for a full week as well. Their lack of a height limit is rare so close to a terminal, which makes them the natural choice for a campervan, a tall van or a car with a roof box. One change to know about: Short Stay 2 used to let drivers stop free for 15 minutes, and that ended when the Waiting Zone opened. See the Short Stay 1 and 2 page.

Meet and greet at Newcastle

Newcastle's meet and greet is run by the airport itself, from the car park nearest the terminal.

  1. Arrive. Drive through the inspection booths into the Premium Meet & Greet car park.
  2. Check in. Park outside the office and hand your keys to staff at reception.
  3. Walk. About a minute to check-in, per the airport.
  4. Return. Collect your keys at reception; staff tell you where the car is.

It reopened in March 2022 after a two-year closure, with a hotel-style reception and uniformed staff. The height limit is 2.7 metres and cars with eight or more seats are refused. On our sample dates it costs only a little more than Short Stay 1, which makes the handover almost a free extra. See the Premium Meet & Greet page.

Off-airport parking and park and ride

Newcastle Park and Fly and Callerton Parking are the two off-airport sites we sell. Both take your keys and run a short bus to the terminal.

SiteWhereTransferKeys
Newcastle Park and FlyPonteland Road, NE20 9DABus on demand, about 5 minLeft at reception
Callerton ParkingWoolsington, near Callerton ParkwayBus on demand, 2–5 minLeft at reception

Resellers describe both as open 24 hours with fencing, CCTV and staff on site, and some describe them as Park Mark awarded; we have not verified that, so we report it as their description. The airport's own help pages name Park and Fly and Callerton among its affiliated off-site providers and advise researching any operator before handing over keys.

Callerton Parking is not the Callerton Parkway Waiting Zone

The free Airport Waiting Zone and Callerton Parking are near each other and share a name, but they are different places for different jobs. Resellers give different check-in addresses for Callerton Parking, so use the one in your confirmation.

Neither off-airport site costs less than the airport's Long Stay on our sample dates. At Newcastle, park and ride is a choice for people who like a staffed compound and a bus, not a way to save money.

Dropping off and picking up

Newcastle has one free way to drop off and pick up, and three paid ones right outside the terminal.

OptionChargeWhere
Airport Waiting ZoneFree for up to 90 minutesCallerton Parkway, shuttle to the terminal
Express car parkFrom £6 for 10 minutesOutside the terminal, 2.0m limit
Short Stay 2From £4 for 15 minutesA few minutes' walk
Minibus and VanFrom £7 for 15 minutesNext to Express, 2.9m limit

The roads around the airport are a camera-enforced red route, so there is nowhere to pull in for free near the terminal. Every rule, charge and tip is in our Newcastle drop-off and pick-up page.

The free Waiting Zone at Callerton Parkway

The Airport Waiting Zone gives drivers up to 90 minutes' free parking, 24 hours a day, with a free shuttle to the terminal every half hour.

It opened in January 2026 next to Callerton Parkway Metro station, a few minutes' drive from the airport, at postcode NE13 8DN. Shuttles leave the zone at quarter past and quarter to the hour, and leave the terminal on the hour and half past. The bus is electric and fully accessible.

Ninety minutes is a generous allowance: most UK airports that offer a free waiting area give less. It suits a pick-up from a delayed flight far better than circling the airport roads, which the red route makes costly. The same site also has an ultra-rapid charging hub, handy for electric cars.

Height limits and larger vehicles

Newcastle is unusually easy for tall and large vehicles: three of its car parks have no height limit at all.

The airport also offers a dedicated Minibus and Van car park in front of the terminal, which few UK airports do. For holiday parking in a motorhome or a high-top van, Short Stay is the closest place you can leave it for the whole trip.

The cheapest way to park at Newcastle

The cheapest parking we sell at Newcastle is the airport's own Long Stay. There is no big off-airport saving here, which is worth knowing before you spend time looking for one.

Car parkPer dayGetting to the terminalKeys
Official Long Stay£10.50Walk, about 300 yardsYou keep them

Three habits cut the cost further. Book as soon as your flights are fixed, because prices rise with demand. Pre-book to pay up to 80% less than the drive-up rate. And never turn up without a booking, because the turn-up tariff is several times higher for a week away. Our Newcastle discount codes page shows the exact saving on each product.

Turn-up prices against booking ahead

The airport's turn-up tariff is built for short visits, and it gets expensive quickly for a trip.

Turn-up stayLong StayShort Stay 2Short Stay 1
Up to 24 hours£50£50£60
2 days£80£90£110
4 days£160£170£210
Each extra day£40£40£50

From the airport's car parking options page, checked 25 September 2026.

Set those against the pre-booked prices in the table at the top. The airport itself says pre-booking can save up to 60%, and recommends it for any stay of 24 hours or more. Stays of up to four hours can simply be paid on the day. Pre-booked stays are charged per calendar day, so Monday to the following Monday counts as eight days.

What changed at Newcastle in 2026

Three changes in 2026 affect drivers: a free Waiting Zone, the end of free stops in Short Stay 2, and card-only exits.

January 2026

The Airport Waiting Zone opened at Callerton Parkway, and Short Stay 2's free 15 minutes ended.

March 2026

The car park exits stopped taking cash; pay by card.

A record year

The airport expects 2026 to be its busiest, with about six million passengers and a new easyJet base.

Busier terminals mean busier car parks, especially at half-terms and in summer. Booking early matters more at Newcastle this year than it has for some time.

Electric cars at Newcastle

The car parks we sell at Newcastle do not advertise EV charging, but an ultra-rapid hub sits a few minutes away at Callerton Parkway.

Fastned opened the hub on 16 December 2025, next to the Metro station and the Waiting Zone. It has 12 bays with chargers of up to 400 kW, open 24/7 with no booking. It is not an airport car park, and you cannot leave a car there for your trip, but it is a good place to top up before parking or on the way home.

Leave home with enough range for the round trip, and remember that a car parked outdoors in a North East winter loses a little charge. Most drivers from Tyneside, Northumberland or County Durham will manage the return journey comfortably on one charge.

Getting to Newcastle Airport by car

Newcastle International Airport is at Woolsington, about six miles north-west of the city centre, reached from the A1 by the A696.

A696 from the A1

Leave the A1 western bypass for the A696 towards Ponteland, then follow the airport signs.

NE13 8BZ

The airport's postcode, at Woolsington. Off-airport sites have their own.

Tyne and Wear Metro

The Metro's airport line ends at the terminal, one stop after Callerton Parkway.

From the south, the A1 western bypass is the usual route; from the north, the A1 or the A696 through Ponteland. Follow the airport signs, then the signs for your car park, which the confirmation names. For Park and Fly or Callerton Parking, use the postcode in your booking rather than the airport's.

The Tyne and Wear Metro is the alternative. Its airport line ends at a station beside the terminal, and a lift to any station avoids drop-off charges altogether.

Parking at Newcastle: your questions

The airport's own Long Stay, on our sample dates. It is about 300 yards from the terminal, and you keep your keys.

Yes, for up to 90 minutes at the Airport Waiting Zone at Callerton Parkway, NE13 8DN, with a free shuttle to the terminal.

The Express car park outside the terminal starts at £6 for up to 10 minutes. Short Stay 2 charges from the first minute too.

Not any more. The free 15 minutes ended in January 2026, when the Waiting Zone shuttle started.

Express (2.0m), the Minibus and Van car park (2.9m) and Premium Meet & Greet (2.7m). Long Stay, Short Stay 1 and Short Stay 2 have none.

Not in the car parks we sell. Fastned runs a 12-bay ultra-rapid charging hub at Callerton Parkway, a few minutes' drive away.

No. The exits have taken cards only since March 2026.

Bookings made with us can be cancelled free within 24 hours of booking.
