The spread at Edinburgh is moderate: the Multi Storey costs a little over twice as much as Plane Parking for eight days. One unusual detail stands out. FastPark valet costs less than parking yourself in the Terminal Car Park, Mid Stay or the Multi Storey.

The cheapest ways to park at Edinburgh
Plane Parking is the cheapest option and it is also official. Flying Scot, Low Cost and the official Long Stay follow, each within about £14 of it over eight days.

Lowest price, free shuttle, no height limit.
Cheap and official, but a 10–12 minute walk with no bus.
Flying Scot, Low Cost and Secure Airparks.
Up to 80% below the drive-up rate.
Cheap at Edinburgh does not mean far away. Plane Parking is on the airport site with a free shuttle, and it costs less than every independent option we bring you. The official Long Stay is cheap too, but its walk makes it a poor fit with heavy bags.
Book as early as you can. Prices rise as your travel date gets closer, so booking early locks in the lower rate.
The six official car parks
The airport runs six car parks: Plane Parking, Long Stay, Mid Stay, the Terminal Car Park, the Multi Storey and FastPark valet. They range from a shuttle ride to a bridge straight into security.
| Car park | Getting to the terminal | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Plane Parking | Free shuttle, about every 12 min | Lowest price, vans, EVs |
| Long Stay | 10–12 min walk, no shuttle | Four days or more, light luggage |
| Mid Stay | About 8 min walk | Hand luggage only |
| Terminal Car Park | 1–2 min walk | Closest open-air spaces |
| Multi Storey | Link bridge to security | Business trips, hand luggage |
| FastPark | 1 min walk after key drop | Speed at a mid-range price |
Walking, shuttles and what each car park involves
Only Plane Parking has a shuttle among the official self-park car parks. Long Stay and Mid Stay are walks, and the airport is open about who they suit.
The official Long Stay is a 10–12 minute walk on a marked route from the north end of the car park. There is no bus. With heavy bags or limited mobility, Plane Parking and its free shuttle is the better choice, and it costs less.
The airport does not recommend Mid Stay for passengers with restricted mobility, and pitches it at hand-luggage travellers. Its walk runs along a well-lit walkway, reached via Gogar Bridge Road.
For trips of four days or more, our Edinburgh Airport long stay parking guide compares the walk and the shuttle in detail.
Plane Parking, the official budget car park
Plane Parking has a free shuttle roughly every 12 minutes from two stops, no height restrictions and 20 EV charge points. It is the cheapest product we compare at Edinburgh.
It takes cars, motorbikes and vans without fuss, which makes it the natural choice for larger vehicles. You reach it along Eastfield Road towards the roundabout by the Moxy and DoubleTree by Hilton hotels. See the Plane Parking page.
The Terminal Car Park and the Multi Storey
The Terminal Car Park is open-air, directly opposite the terminal and a 1 to 2-minute walk. The Multi Storey is covered, with a bridge on level two straight to security.
Terminal Car Park
The closest open-air spaces. Home to 1 Hour Parking and designated 22kW EV bays, with CCTV, floodlighting, barriers and number plate recognition.
Multi Storey
The only covered car park. A level-two link bridge to security for hand luggage only, and fastTRACK for up to five passengers.
Both suit short trips. Our Edinburgh short stay parking page compares them with Mid Stay.
FastPark valet parking
FastPark is the airport's own valet service, a one-minute walk from check-in. You park in a ferry lane, check in at reception, drop your keys and walk to the terminal.
- Pull into a ferry lane. Follow the FastPark signs.
- Check in at reception. Hand over your keys there.
- Walk to check-in. It takes about a minute.
- Relax. A team member parks your car under HD camera coverage.
An EV version returns your car charged. Details are on our Edinburgh valet parking page.
Independent park and ride
Secure Airparks, Flying Scot and Low Cost Park & Ride operate off the airport site. Secure Airparks is a self-park site with a free shuttle every 5 to 10 minutes, taking about two minutes.
At Secure Airparks you keep your keys, enter on your number plate and take the shuttle to Stance 10 in the airport's coach park. It also has EV bays for customers who bring their own Type 2 cable. See the Secure Airparks page.
At Flying Scot you hand your keys in at reception and staff park your car. Sources disagree on its current location and transfer time, so follow your booking confirmation. We have not confirmed operational details for Low Cost Park & Ride.
Which car parks let you keep your keys
You keep your keys at Plane Parking, Long Stay, Mid Stay, the Terminal Car Park, the Multi Storey and Secure Airparks. You hand them over at FastPark and Flying Scot.
| Car park | Keys | Getting to the terminal |
|---|---|---|
| Plane Parking | You keep them | Free shuttle |
| Long Stay | You keep them | Walk 10–12 min |
| Secure Airparks | You keep them | Free shuttle |
| Multi Storey | You keep them | Link bridge |
| FastPark | Dropped at reception | Walk 1 min |
| Flying Scot | Left at reception | Shuttle |
Dropping off and picking up
The charged zone on the Multi Storey's ground floor costs £8.50 for up to 10 minutes, then £1 a minute. Long Stay gives 30 minutes free, about a 10-minute walk from the terminal.
The 50% drop-off discount for electric cars was removed in May 2026. Many sites still advertise it, so do not count on it.
Blue Badge holders get up to an hour free using the exit intercom, and residents of several nearby postcodes can apply for a discount. Our Edinburgh drop-off and pick-up guide has the full rules.
Electric vehicle charging at Edinburgh
Edinburgh has more EV choice than any other airport we cover: 22kW bays at the Terminal Car Park, 20 points at Plane Parking, FastPark EV and Secure Airparks bays.
22kW chargers in designated bays.
20 charge points.
Valet that returns your car charged.
EV bays. Bring your own Type 2 cable.
Compare them on our Edinburgh Airport EV charging page.
Vans, motorbikes and larger vehicles
Plane Parking has no height restrictions and takes cars, motorbikes and vans. Secure Airparks has no height restriction but takes vehicles under 5.9 metres long.
Flying Scot does not accept vans, long-wheelbase or commercial vehicles, according to its listings. For a van or a tall vehicle, Plane Parking is the simplest choice at Edinburgh.
Getting to Edinburgh Airport
Edinburgh Airport sits west of the city near Ingliston, reached from the M8, M9 and A8. Each car park has its own approach, so use the directions in your confirmation.
All lead to the airport from the city and beyond.
The airport sits west of Edinburgh.
Edinburgh Trams and the Airlink bus serve the terminal.
Plane Parking is reached along Eastfield Road. Mid Stay is reached via Gogar Bridge Road. Secure Airparks is on Ingliston Road, which can close during events at the Royal Highland Centre, so check your confirmation for the alternative route.
Choosing the right car park for your trip
Match the car park to your luggage, your trip length and how you feel about walking. At Edinburgh those three things matter more than a few pounds.
| Your situation | Our suggestion | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Lowest price, any luggage | Plane Parking | Cheapest, with a free shuttle |
| Van, motorbike or tall vehicle | Plane Parking | No height restrictions |
| Four days or more, light bags | Long Stay | Cheap and official, a 10–12 minute walk |
| Short trip, want to be close | Terminal Car Park | A 1–2 minute walk |
| Hand luggage, business trip | Multi Storey | Bridge straight to security |
| Families with lots of bags | FastPark | Drop keys, walk a minute |
Families with young children tend to find the walk from Long Stay harder than it sounds. A pushchair, two cases and a 12-minute walk in the rain is a poor start to a holiday. Plane Parking or FastPark avoid that.

Security at Edinburgh's car parks
The Terminal Car Park lists CCTV, floodlighting, barriers and number plate recognition, and FastPark lists HD camera coverage. Secure Airparks says it has held the Park Mark award for over 25 years.
We have not confirmed a Park Mark award for the official car parks, so we do not claim one. Secure Airparks describes perimeter fencing, cameras monitored 24/7 and staff on site around the clock. We report what each operator says. Whichever you choose, take valuables with you and leave nothing on show.
