Several off-airport operators cost less than the cheapest official product, and a handful of meet and greet services cost less than parking beside the terminal yourself. That makes the price order at Heathrow unusual: handing your keys to a driver is often cheaper than Terminal Parking.

What the official car parks are called now

Heathrow renamed every official product: Short Stay is now Terminal Parking, Long Stay is now Park & Ride, and Business Parking is now Priority Park & Ride. Some road signs still show the old names.

Old nameNew nameWhat it is
Short StayTerminal ParkingCar parks beside Terminals 2, 3 and 5
Long StayPark & RideCar parks with free buses, one per terminal
Business ParkingPriority Park & RideFaster shuttles to the doors, Terminal 5 only at present
No changePod ParkingDriverless pods to Terminal 5
No changeMeet & Greet and ValetHandover services run by Heathrow

Heathrow says the new names will take time to reach every sign, so you may see Short Stay on the approach road and Terminal Parking on your booking. They are the same car park. One more naming trap: Terminals Parking is a private operator, not Heathrow's Terminal Parking. We explain both below.

Choosing by terminal

Heathrow has four passenger terminals, 2, 3, 4 and 5, and most car parks serve only some of them. Check your terminal first, then choose the car park.

TerminalOfficial optionsOff-airport optionsGuide
Terminal 2Terminal Parking, Park & Ride, Meet & Greet, ValetPurple Parking, Terminals Parking, most meet and greetTerminal 2 parking

Terminal 5All official products, including Pods and PriorityTerminals Parking T5, most meet and greetTerminal 5 parking
Terminal 4 has changed

Heathrow closed the Terminal 4 multi-storey on 23 June 2026. Terminal Parking and Heathrow's own Meet & Greet ended there, and Terminal 4 parking moved to the Terminal 4 Park & Ride. Operators that met customers in the old multi-storey have moved their meeting points, so follow your latest confirmation.

Terminals 2 and 3 share the central terminal area, reached from the M4, and share a Park & Ride. Terminals 4 and 5 are reached from the M25 and have their own car parks. Book for the terminal on your ticket, because a car park for the wrong terminal can add a long transfer.

Terminal Parking

Terminal Parking, formerly Short Stay, is the closest official parking at Terminals 2, 3 and 5. At Terminal 5, Heathrow describes a two-minute walk along covered walkways.

2 minwalk at Terminal 5
2.2mheight limit
T2, T3, T5terminals served
Keepyour keys

It is the dearest way to park at Heathrow over a week, but it earns its price on short trips and for pick-ups. The drive-up tariff at Terminal 5 starts at £8.00 for up to 29 minutes. It is also where Heathrow's Meet & Greet and most off-airport meet and greet operators hand over, so the walk to check-in is the same for all of them. Read the Official Terminal Parking page or our Heathrow short stay page.

Park & Ride and Priority Park & Ride

The official Park & Ride is the cheapest parking Heathrow runs, with free buses to every terminal. Priority Park & Ride adds faster shuttles, but only its Terminal 5 site is open.

Car parkTerminalsPostcodeTransfer
Park & Ride T2 and T3Terminals 2 and 3TW6 2SBFree bus, about 10–15 min
Park & Ride T4Terminal 4TW6 3XLFree bus
Park & Ride T5Terminal 5TW6 2RLFree bus, Level 0 stop
Priority Park & RideTerminal 5 (T2 and T3 site closed)TW6 2RPShuttle, as little as 10 min

Buses leave every 15 minutes through the day, and you keep your keys. The drive-up rate is £46.80 for the first day and £37.40 for each extra 24 hours, so eight days on the day comes to over £300. Pre-booked, it costs far less. The first 29 minutes are free, which makes the Park & Ride the free fallback for pick-ups.

See the Official Park & Ride and Priority Park & Ride guides, or compare every bus option on our Heathrow park and ride page.

Pod Parking at Terminal 5

Pod Parking links its car park to Terminal 5 by driverless electric pods, in about six minutes. Heathrow says the wait for a pod is usually under 30 seconds.

The pods run on a guideway from the car park on the Northern Perimeter Road. The system is unique among UK airports. It closes for planned engineering on some dates, with a replacement bus. See the Official Pod Parking page.

Meet and greet and valet

Meet & Greet hands over in the Terminal Parking car park. Valet hands over on the terminal forecourt. That one difference explains most of the confusion about handover services at Heathrow.

Meet and greet

You drive into Terminal Parking, meet a driver, usually on Level 4, and walk to check-in. Heathrow runs its own service at Terminals 2, 3 and 5, and eight off-airport operators compete with it.

Valet

You pull up on a dedicated part of the forecourt, with the drop-off charge covered, and hand over the key. Your car comes back to reserved spaces in Terminal Parking. Terminals 2, 3 and 5, advance booking only.

Off-airport parking

The lowest prices at Heathrow come from off-airport sites on Bath Road and beyond. Most take your keys and serve only some terminals.

Park Inn Heathrow

Hotel parking at the Radisson on Bath Road, with the paid Hoppa bus.

Express Parking

Lists transfers to all four terminals.

Purple Parking

17 Bath Road, free bus to Terminals 2 and 3 in about 10 to 12 minutes.

Terminals Parking

Park and ride for Terminal 5, or for Terminals 2 and 3.

Park Inn has the lowest parking price, but the Hoppa is paid for each traveller, so a family of four should add the fares before comparing. Purple Parking's bus is free. Terminals Parking is a private company whose name overlaps with Heathrow's Terminal Parking, so check the operator on your booking.

Gregg Maurice, Premium Parking, Triangle Parking, Moon Parking and Airport Meet & Greet also appear in our search, but they have no guide pages yet. See Park Inn Heathrow, Purple Parking Park & Ride and our Heathrow long stay page.

Dropping off and picking up

Every Heathrow terminal drop-off area charges £7 per entry, and pick-ups on the forecourt are not allowed.

  1. Drop off. Stop, unload and go. Waiting is not allowed, and unattended vehicles may be towed.
  2. Pay. Online, by phone on 0330 008 5600 or with AutoPay, by midnight the day after.
  3. Avoid the penalty. An unpaid charge becomes an £80 Parking Charge Notice, reduced to £40 within 14 days.
  4. Pick up in a car park. Terminal Parking at T2, T3 and T5, or the Park & Ride.

At Terminal 4, the Priority Pick-Up area charges by the minute, and Zone A of the Terminal 4 Park & Ride is free for up to two hours. Blue Badge holders can apply for a 100% discount on the drop-off charge. Full details are in our Heathrow drop-off and pick-up guide.

ULEZ and electric vehicles

Heathrow sits inside London's Ultra Low Emission Zone, and it has no EV charging in its own car parks.

ProductWhen the ULEZ applies, per Heathrow or the operator
Terminal Parking, Park & Ride, Priority, PodsThe days you arrive in the car park
Meet & Greet and ValetArriving and leaving, and possibly when cars move between sites
APH and Terminals ParkingDeparture and return days

Non-compliant vehicles pay £12.50 a day. Check your car on Transport for London's checker before you book. Fully electric cars are exempt, but Heathrow says it does not currently provide EV charging in any of its car parks. To come back to a charged car, book MBW Meet and Greet with EV charging or the Terminals Parking EV product. Our Heathrow EV charging guide compares them.

The cheapest way to park at Heathrow

Park Inn, Express Parking and Purple Parking are the cheapest products with a guide page on our site. The official Park & Ride is the cheapest option where you keep your keys.

For families, the free bus at Purple Parking can beat Park Inn once the Hoppa fares are added. For meet and greet on a budget, Edward Lloyd costs less than the official Park & Ride. See our cheap Heathrow parking page for the ten lowest prices.

Price guide and turn-up charges

Turning up without a booking costs far more than pre-booking at Heathrow. Eight days at the drive-up rate comes to £308.60 at the Park & Ride and over £780 in Terminal Parking at Terminal 5.

Which car parks let you keep your keys

You keep your keys at Terminal Parking, the Park & Ride, Priority Park & Ride and Pod Parking. Meet and greet, Valet and most off-airport park and ride sites take them.

Getting to Heathrow by car

Heathrow sits west of London between the M4 and the M25. Terminals 2 and 3 are reached from the M4 at Junction 4, and Terminals 4 and 5 from the M25.

M4 and M25

Terminals 2 and 3 are reached from the M4 at Junction 4. Terminals 4 and 5 from the M25, following the terminal signs.

Your postcode

Each car park has its own postcode. Use the one in your confirmation.

ULEZ applies

Heathrow sits inside London's ULEZ. Non-compliant vehicles pay £12.50 a day driven.

Use the postcode in your booking confirmation, because each car park has its own entrance and most are some way from the terminal they serve. The Park & Ride sites sit on the perimeter roads. Allow extra time for the M25 and the M4 at peak hours, and more again on the first days of the school holidays.

Choosing the right car park for your trip

Match the car park to your terminal, your trip length and whether you want to keep your keys. At Heathrow, those three choices decide most of the price.
