The cheapest official product, Mid Stay, sits in the middle of the table, and the terminal car parks sit near the top. The biggest number on this page is not in the table at all: eight days in a terminal car park on the gate would cost £600, per the airport's tariff.

The cheapest way to park at Luton

Drop & Go at Slip End is the cheapest product we sell, with Self Park next and the airport's Mid Stay after that.

The four sit within £2.58 a day of each other. Choose on keys, transfer and vehicle size, then book early to lock in the lower rate.

Luton's gate prices reach £75 a day in the terminal car parks, £40 a day in Mid Stay and £35 a day in Long Stay.

On-airport car parks at Luton

London Luton runs two terminal car parks, Priority Parking, Mid Stay and Long Stay, and says all of them are Park Mark certified.

All five read number plates at the barriers and are patrolled around the clock, per the airport. Disabled bays are in every one: 82 in Terminal Car Park 1 and 113 in Long Stay, out of 327 across the airport. The choice is essentially distance against price, with the height of your car deciding it for some drivers.

The terminal car parks

Terminal Car Park 1 is about four minutes from check-in by footbridge; Terminal Car Park 2 is about five minutes on foot. Both cost the same pre-booked.

They are the closest places to park yourself at Luton, and both have a 2.1m height limit. Blue Badge holders and passengers with booked assistance get 30 minutes free in either terminal car park after validating the ticket. Priority Parking and what changed in 2026

The airport's official meet and greet is now Priority Parking: a self-service key drop on Level 2 of Terminal Car Park 1, with no driver at the handover.

1. Park. In any Priority bay; note the number.
2. Check in. At a machine, by scanning your QR code or barcode.
3. Drop the keys. Tag them and post them into the secure chute.
4. Walk in. About three minutes over the footbridge.

Staff move the car to on-site storage. On return, a collection locker releases your keys when you scan your receipt, and the screen shows where the car is. Anyone who wants a person to take the car should book APL or Maple instead. Our Luton Airport meet and greet guide sets them side by side.

Mid Stay and Long Stay

Mid Stay is a ten-minute walk; Long Stay runs a free bus every 20 minutes, 24 hours a day. Neither has a height limit.

Height limits and larger vehicles

Only Mid Stay and Long Stay have no height limit at Luton. Everything by the terminal is capped at 2.1m.

For a van, a motorhome or a car with a roof box, book Mid Stay or Long Stay. Measure the car as loaded; a few centimetres over means turning round at the barrier and finding another car park on the morning of your flight.

Business trips

For a day or two away on business, time matters more than the last pound.

Priority Parking and Terminal Car Park 1 both put you a few minutes from check-in over the footbridge, which counts on a late return after a long day. Priority costs £13.30 less than the terminal car parks over 8 days, but you hand over your keys; Car Park 1 lets you keep them. Book the exact return date, because the gate charges any extra day at the full daily rate. Per day, Mid Stay costs £2.67 less than a terminal car park with BCP30. Families at Luton

Luton handles many early holiday departures, and families feel the pinch of early starts most.

Priority Parking or a handover with APL or Maple saves carrying cases on a bus. Mid Stay's ten-minute walk suits older children with their own wheeled bags. For the lowest cost, Drop & Go at Slip End is £6.65 a day, as long as the car clears its size limits. Pack a small bag of snacks and water for the bus home, because the wait after a flight can feel long.

Off-airport parking at Luton

Off-airport parking at Luton starts at £53.19 for 8 days with Drop & Go at Slip End, £14.35 less than the airport's Mid Stay. APH and Airparks share one site on Grove Road, Slip End; APL and Maple hand over in Terminal Car Park 1, and APL also runs park and ride from Luton station.

APH and Airparks at Slip End

Both brands sell the same two products from one site on Grove Road (LU1 4BZ). With Drop & Go you press the button at the second barrier, check in at a machine, tag your keys and post them in the box for your lane; staff park the car and transfers run on demand. With Self Park a marshal directs you to a zone, you keep your keys and the bus runs every 20 minutes. The ride is 12 to 14 minutes, and you come back from Bus Stop E, showing your ticket. APL: park and ride or meet and greet

APL's park and ride uses the Luton Station multi-storey on Midland Road (LU1 2LT): you call at least 30 minutes before the arranged meeting, park, keep your keys and are taken to the airport. Airport Parking Shop lists a 2 m limit and £15 for each extra day. APL's meet and greet hands the car to staff on Level 3 of Terminal Car Park 1. For either, you call from the baggage hall on return. Maple Parking meet and greet

Call Maple on 01582 825656 about 20 minutes out, take a ticket at the Terminal Car Park 1 barrier and drive to Level 3, where a uniformed driver takes the car, keys and your return flight details. You walk straight to the terminal. Maple charges £20 a day or part day after the booked return, per APH. Our Maple Parking Luton guide covers the handover.

Off-airport against Mid Stay and Long Stay

Drop & Go costs £14.35 less than Mid Stay and £20.65 less than Long Stay over 8 days; Self Park costs £9.45 and £15.75 less. The airport's car parks win on vehicle size, since Mid Stay and Long Stay have no height limit. Turning up without a booking costs £320 in Mid Stay and £280 in Long Stay for 8 days. Before you drive to an off-airport site

• Use the right postcode. LU1 4BZ for Slip End, LU1 2LT for APL park and ride, LU2 9DH for handovers in Terminal Car Park 1.
• Measure the car. Every off-airport product has a height limit of 2 or 2.1 m.
• Save the number. APL and Maple both work by phone on the day.
• Decide on keys. Drop & Go and meet and greet take them; Self Park and APL park and ride do not.

Dropping off and picking up

The Drop Off and Pick Up Zone charges £9 for up to 12 minutes, then £1 a minute, with a 30-minute cap and payment online by midnight the next day.

The free option is Long Stay, with up to two hours at no charge and a bus to the terminal. Mid Stay no longer has a free window, whatever older guides say. Our Luton Airport drop-off and pick-up guide covers every choice.

EV charging at Luton

APCOA lists EV charging at Terminal Car Park 1, where fully electric cars pay £4.50 for up to 30 minutes. APH sells Charge & Go at its Slip End site, with charging included.

Charge & Go is not part of our comparison, so book it with the operator if you want your car charged while you are away. Otherwise, leave home with enough range for the return drive, allowing for a little loss while the car is parked in cold weather. For a quick top-up, Shell Recharge has six 150 kW chargers on Eaton Green Road (LU2 9HD), a few minutes from the airport.

Getting to Luton Airport by car and the DART

The airport is about two miles from Junction 10 of the M1, reached along the A1081. The DART shuttle links Luton Airport Parkway station with the terminal.

Each car park has its own sat-nav postcode, so use the one in your confirmation. The DART, from £4.90, is worth knowing even when you drive: being dropped at Parkway and taking the DART avoids the drop-off zone altogether. The Slip End site is reached from Junction 10 via the B4540, before you reach the airport; APH sends southbound drivers off at Junction 9.

Security at Luton car parks

London Luton says its car parks are Park Mark certified, as assessed by the police, and patrolled 24 hours a day.
