Against the gate price

Pre-booking with the code beats the gate by a huge margin at Luton.

Eight days in Terminal Car Park 1 at the airport's gate price would cost £600. The same stay pre-booked with our code costs a fraction of that, and the cheapest long stay option less again. No other airport we cover shows the gap so starkly.

Using it

The airport's own products

Five of the twelve are run by the airport, and all five take the full 30%.

The off-airport products

APH, Airparks, APL and Maple all take the full 30% too.

APH and Airparks share one site and match each other's prices, so the code makes no difference between them. Choose on the brand you prefer.

What the code does not cover

Drop-off charges, gate prices and late-return fees sit outside it.

When your dates change, amend the booking before you travel rather than paying for extra days at the gate or in late fees.

When to book

Book as soon as your flights are fixed, especially for school holidays.

Luton is busy with early-morning holiday flights, and the cheapest car parks fill first. The code then comes off whatever the starting price is, so an early booking and the code together give the lowest total.

Booking for someone else

Use the driver's registration.

The airport's barriers and the drop-off zone read number plates. Send the confirmation to the driver so they have the directions on the day.

Per day with the code

Seen per day, Luton's prices with our code run from under £7 to under £12.

Use the daily figure to compare trips of different lengths. A short trip in a terminal car park can cost less in total than a long one at Slip End.

Changing a booking

Amend the dates before you travel rather than paying the gate price for extra days.

Bookings made with us can be cancelled up to 72 hours before arrival. After that, contact us to discuss changes. A late return in the airport's car parks is charged at the gate tariff, which is far above the pre-booked price with the code.

Why prices differ so much

At Luton, closeness to the terminal sets the price.

Drop & Go at Slip End is the cheapest because it is off the airport and staff park the cars tightly. The terminal car parks cost the most among self-park options because they are a few minutes' walk from check-in. Handovers with a person, like Maple's, sit at the top. The code takes the same share off each, so the order does not change.

Long trips and short trips

The length of the trip changes which product is best value.

On a two-week holiday, the daily rate dominates, so Slip End, Mid Stay and Long Stay pull ahead. On a one- or two-night trip, the gap is small in pounds and the shorter walk from Priority Parking or a terminal car park is worth more. Check both before you book, then apply the code.

Families and groups

A family's best deal depends on luggage as much as price.

With cases and children, the walk-in options and the airport's key drop avoid a bus. Travelling light as a couple, the cheapest option at Slip End is hard to beat once the code is applied.

Paying for the booking

You pay online when you book, and the discounted total shows before you confirm.

Keep the confirmation email. It has the arrival instructions, the sat-nav postcode and the booking reference that barriers and staff ask for.

For the airport's own car parks, the barrier reads your number plate against the booking. For Slip End, APL and Maple, the confirmation also carries the operator's phone number and check-in steps. Read it the evening before you travel, so the morning goes to plan and there are no surprises at the entrance.

Comparing like with like

Compare products of the same type before you compare prices.

A key drop at Slip End and a walk-in space in a terminal car park are different things, so the lower price is not automatically the better deal. Decide first whether you want to keep your keys, whether you mind a bus, and whether your car clears a 2.1m barrier. Then sort by price within that group and let the code take its share.

Security

The airport says its car parks are Park Mark certified.

London Luton Airport says its own car parks are Park Mark certified, as assessed by the police, and patrolled around the clock. The off-airport operators describe their own security, which we report as their accounts rather than checking it ourselves.
