About Official EMA Long Stay 1 & 2
Long Stay 1 and 2 give you the shortest bus ride of the East Midlands shuttle car parks. A free bus runs about every 15 minutes, and Long Stay 2 is close enough to walk.
Long Stay 1 and 2 are official airport car parks, closer to the terminal than JetParks. A free bus runs about every 15 minutes, and the ride takes just 3 to 5 minutes. Entry uses number plate recognition, and you keep your keys.
Long Stay 2 has two extras. It is walkable, in 15 to 20 minutes, for travellers with light luggage. It also works as the airport's free waiting car park, with the first 60 minutes free, which makes it useful for pick-ups.
Long Stay costs a pound or two a day more than JetParks on our sample dates. For that, the transfer is much shorter. The airport closes Long Stay over the winter season.
Location and getting there
Leave the M1 at junction 24 from the north or 23A from the south, then follow the A453 towards the airport. As you arrive, follow the Long Stay signs rather than the terminal signs. The terminal postcode, DE74 2SA, brings you to the airport, and the signs take you to the right entrance.
Long Stay 1 and 2 have their own entrances, so check which one your confirmation names before you arrive. On a busy morning, allow around 20 minutes from arriving at the car park to reaching the terminal door, including the wait for the bus.

How the Long Stay bus works
The free bus runs about every 15 minutes between Long Stay and the terminal, and the ride takes 3 to 5 minutes. The worst-case wait is about a quarter of an hour, so allow around 20 minutes from parking to the terminal door on a busy day.
From Long Stay 2 you can also walk, in 15 to 20 minutes. That suits light luggage and good weather. With cases and children, the bus is easier.
The free hour at Long Stay 2
The first 60 minutes at Long Stay 2 are free, then £1 a minute. Collect a token at the entry barrier. That makes it the best place at East Midlands to wait for an arriving flight, rather than paying drop-off or pick-up charges at the terminal. It closes over winter, so check before relying on it.
