About Official EMA Mid Stay 1, 2 & 3
Mid Stay 1, 2 and 3 sit between the shuttle car parks and Short Stay. You walk to the terminal in 5 to 7 minutes, with no bus to wait for, and Mid Stay stays open through the winter.
Mid Stay is the walk-in middle ground at East Midlands. The three car parks are a 5 to 7-minute walk from the terminal, with no shuttle involved. You keep your keys, and entry uses number plate recognition.
The three differ only slightly in price, by under a pound over eight days on our sample dates. Mid Stay 1 is the cheapest. Your booking confirmation names the car park, so follow the signs for that one.
Mid Stay matters most in winter. With JetParks and Long Stay closed for the season, Mid Stay 1 becomes the cheapest official car park you can book.
Location and getting there
Leave the M1 at junction 24 from the north or 23A from the south, then follow the A453 towards the airport. As you arrive, follow the Mid Stay signs rather than the terminal signs. The terminal postcode, DE74 2SA, brings you to the airport, and the signs take you to the right entrance.
Mid Stay sits closer to the terminal than the shuttle zones, so there is no extra time to build in for a bus. Allow for the 5 to 7-minute walk, plus a little more with children or heavy cases.

The walk to the terminal
The walk from Mid Stay takes 5 to 7 minutes. That is a couple of minutes more than Short Stay, and far quicker than waiting for a shuttle. It suits early flights, when you would rather not wait for the first bus, and anyone who dislikes transfers.
With heavy luggage or young children, the walk is manageable but worth planning. Meet and greet costs about the same as Mid Stay and removes the walk from the car park.
Mid Stay in winter
When the airport closes JetParks and Long Stay for winter, Mid Stay 1 is the cheapest official car park you can book. Midlands Parking's non-flex meet and greet costs less on our sample dates, before its £6 airport charge each way, so compare both totals for winter trips.
