Short Stay is the closest self-park zone at East Midlands. It is also cheaper than you might expect: the gap to the budget JetParks zone is only about £3 to £4 a day.

All three Short Stay car parks are a 1 to 5-minute walk from the terminal. They differ mainly in price, and Short Stay 1 also hosts pick-ups and the meet and greet handovers.

When short stay is worth the price
Short Stay earns its price on short trips, early flights and journeys with luggage or children. Over eight days it costs roughly £3 to £4 a day more than Jet Park 1.
A weekend away or a two-day business trip is where Short Stay shines. The cost difference over two or three days is small, and you walk straight to check-in.

Short Stay 1, pick-ups and meet and greet
Short Stay 1 is the airport's pick-up car park, at £6 for up to 30 minutes. Both meet and greet services also use it: the official service's handover area, and row C for Midlands Parking.
Because pick-ups and meet and greet handovers share Short Stay 1, the approach can be busy at peak arrival times. Allow a few extra minutes.

How short stay parking works
Follow the Short Stay signs, enter on your plate, park and walk into the terminal. On return, walk back and drive out.
- Follow the Short Stay signs. Your confirmation names Short Stay 1, 2 or 3.
- Enter on your plate. The camera reads it and lifts the barrier.
- Park and lock. Keep your keys and note your row.
- Walk to the terminal. It takes one to five minutes.
Alternatives close to the terminal
Mid Stay costs less and adds a couple of minutes to the walk. Meet and greet costs less than Short Stay on our sample dates and removes the walk from the car park.

Hand your keys in at reception and walk 1–2 minutes to the terminal. Minimum stay three days.

Short stay in the winter season
Short Stay stays open when JetParks and Long Stay close for winter. With the budget zones gone, the price gap between Short Stay and the cheapest open car park narrows.
In winter the cheapest official car park is Mid Stay, not JetParks. Short Stay 3 costs a little over £6 more than Mid Stay 1 across eight days on our sample, for a walk that is a few minutes shorter. On a cold, dark evening after a late flight, that short walk back to the car is worth something too.
What short stay costs over different trip lengths
The daily gap between Short Stay 3 and Jet Park 1 is about £2.80 on our eight-day sample. Over a weekend that is a few pounds. Over a fortnight it becomes a real sum.
Our sample prices cover eight days, so treat these as a guide rather than a quote. Search your own dates above for exact figures. What the sample shows clearly is how the walk-in premium grows with the length of your trip.
Many travellers split the difference with Mid Stay, which costs less than Short Stay and adds only a couple of minutes to the walk.
Getting to Short Stay
Leave the M1 at junction 24 from the north or 23A from the south, follow the A453, then the Short Stay signs. Short Stay sits closest to the terminal, so it is the easiest zone to find.
Short Stay 1 shares its approach with the meet and greet lanes. The official meet and greet takes the middle lane, and Midlands Parking customers use the far-left lane. Follow the Short Stay signs for the car park named in your confirmation.

Security at Short Stay
Short Stay is an official airport car park with number plate recognition at the barriers. It sits beside the terminal, where staff and passengers are around at all hours.
We have not confirmed a Park Mark award for East Midlands from the airport, so we do not claim one. Your number plate must match your booking for the barrier to open, so double-check it when you book.
Take valuables with you and leave nothing on show. A short walk also means you can carry everything with you easily.
