What Diamond Park & Ride is
Diamond is the cheapest way to park for a trip from Southend, and one of the cheapest at any UK airport we cover. You leave the car and keys at a reception on Purdeys Industrial Estate in Rochford and ride a short bus to the terminal. A second product adds EV charging, done before you return.
Diamond Park & Ride is an off-airport car park on Millhead Way, on Purdeys Industrial Estate in Rochford, a few minutes from the airport. You park in an arrivals lane, check in at reception or a self check-in point, and hand over your keys. Staff park the car and help load bags onto the minibus.
Resellers describe buses every 10 to 15 minutes, taking about five minutes to the terminal, from early morning until after the last flight has landed. The site is fenced and gated, with CCTV and staff on site around the clock, per the operator's listings.
Two products share the site. The standard one is the cheapest parking we sell at Southend. The EV version adds a charge before you collect the car.

What the EV option buys
The EV product costs £26.88 more than standard parking for eight days with our code. For that, Diamond charges the car on a 7.4 kW untethered unit that works with Type 1 and Type 2 connectors, and the charge is included in the price. Charging happens before your return, so the car is ready when you land.
The chargers are untethered, so pack the cable and any adapter your car needs. Without one, the car cannot be charged.
Whether it is worth the extra depends on your car and your drive home. For most drivers from Essex and east London, a full battery at departure is enough for the round trip. The EV option earns its price after a long drive in, or in cold weather.
Vehicles Diamond accepts
Cars must fit a standard bay, about 2.4 by 4.8 metres. Trailers are not accepted, and neither are vehicles with eight or more seats. Resellers list a supplement for long-wheelbase vehicles. For a campervan or long van, the airport's own Budget car park is the alternative.
Accessibility
Resellers list a small number of accessible spaces, but also say the shuttle bus is not wheelchair accessible. A passenger who uses a wheelchair is better served by the airport's own car parks, all within a few minutes' walk of the terminal.

Purple Parking runs a park and ride on the same industrial estate, also taking your keys and running a four-minute bus. It costs a little more than Diamond on our sample dates and has no guide page on our site yet, but it can be booked through the search.
