The code and the new names

The code works on the airport's car parks under their new names.

London Southend renamed Long Stay as Standard, Mid Stay as Budget and Short Stay as Superior; Premium kept its name. Some booking sites and older guides still show the old names. Whatever the label, the code takes the same 30% off.

Two price quirks worth using

At Southend, the grander name is not necessarily the dearer car park.

Pre-booked, Premium costs less than Superior, though both sit directly opposite the terminal. And Budget costs more than Standard, though Standard is only a minute or two further to walk. For an ordinary car, Premium and Standard are the smart picks once the code is applied.

Budget remains the only official car park for vehicles over 2.0 metres tall or 5.0 metres long, so drivers of campervans and high vans should book it regardless.

Diamond and Purple

The two off-airport sites in Rochford take 30% off too, and they start from the lowest prices at Southend.

Both hold your keys and run a bus of four or five minutes to the terminal. With the code applied, Diamond's standard product works out at about four pounds a day. Diamond's EV option costs more, and the code takes 30% off that as well, including the charge.

Choose first, then save

The code keeps the order of the table the same, so decide on the car park first.

The code on the EV option

Diamond's EV product is dearer than its standard parking, and the code takes 30% off the whole price, charge included.

The charging comes bundled with the parking, so there is no separate bill for electricity. You bring your own cable, and the car is charged before you return. With the code applied, the EV product still costs less than any of the airport's own car parks on our sample dates, which makes it easy value for an electric car on a longer drive home.

Families and groups

For a family, the shortest walk can be worth more than the lowest price.

Diamond's bus is short, but it still means loading children and cases twice each way. Premium puts the car a minute from check-in and, with the code, costs a good deal less than Superior next to it. For a family week away, that is often the best balance. Couples travelling light will find Diamond or Standard hard to beat.

Short business trips

For a day or two away, the code makes the terminal car parks affordable.

On a short trip the gap between the off-airport sites and the car parks opposite the terminal shrinks in pounds, while the time saved stays the same. Book Premium with the code, walk straight in, and be on the road home within minutes of landing. The airport's four-hour grace period also covers most late flights.

Offers the code does not stack with

The airport runs a few turn-up offers of its own, which sit outside our search.

Premium has an evening special for turn-up drivers who enter after 5pm and leave by 3am. It is for short evening visits, such as collecting a late arrival, and is paid on the day to the airport. It cannot be pre-booked through us, and our code does not apply to it. For a trip, the pre-booked price with the code is the one to compare.

The code is already in place; you only choose and pay.

2. Compare. All seven products show your price.
3. Check. The saving appears before payment.
4. Book. Confirmation arrives by email.

Against turning up

Booked with the code, a week at Southend costs a fraction of the turn-up rates.

The airport's turn-up tariffs are daily rates that add up quickly over a trip, and the airport itself says pre-booking saves up to 60%. Our code comes off the pre-booked price. For anything longer than a few hours, book before you leave home.

What the code does not cover

Charges paid to the airport on the day sit outside it.

The Express lane charge, any Parking Charge Notice, and overstays beyond the airport's four-hour grace period are separate. Overstays are charged at the car park's 24-hour turn-up rate, so amend the booking before you travel when dates change.

When the cheapest option is the train

For some trips, not driving at all costs less than any parking.

Southend Airport station is about 100 paces from the terminal, with direct trains to London Liverpool Street and Stratford. For a solo traveller on a short trip, the fare may undercut even Diamond with the code. For families and longer trips, parking usually wins.

When to book

Book as soon as the flights are confirmed.

Southend prices rise with demand, and school holidays lift them most. Summer Saturdays and the Christmas getaway are usually the busiest dates, and the car parks opposite the terminal fill before the others. Booking early and using the code together give the lowest total. Use the registration of the car you will drive, because every car park reads number plates.

Changing or cancelling

Bookings made with us can be cancelled up to 72 hours before arrival.

For a change of dates, amend the booking rather than relying on the grace period. Check the confirmation for the car park name, which may be the old one, and for the Rochford check-in address on the off-airport products.
