Three places to stop
Liverpool gives you three choices: paid Express Drop Off & Pick Up by the terminal, free Drop Off 2 a short walk away, or the multi-storey for longer waits.

Express Drop Off & Pick Up charges
The Express tariff climbs in four steps to £50 for up to 24 hours, per ukair.

The jump after the second step is steep, so do not use Express to wait for a flight. For longer stops, the airport recommends the multi-storey.
Drop Off 2: free, with a catch
Drop Off 2 is free for up to 20 minutes, but the free period only applies once every two hours.
Drop someone off, head home, then come back for a forgotten bag too soon, and the minimum charge applies. Check the car before your passenger walks away.
The walk from Drop Off 2 to the terminal takes roughly five to ten minutes. Fine for a passenger with a backpack; less fun with three cases in the rain.
The Blue Badge concession
Blue Badge holders can claim up to 40 minutes free in Express Drop Off & Pick Up, but only when the badge holder is the passenger travelling.
The claim goes through the airport's refund process, per ukair within 28 days and with a boarding pass in the badge holder's name. Dropping off a friend while you hold the badge does not qualify. Disabled bays are also available in every car park.
Motorbikes park free
Motorcycles park free in designated spaces in the Express Drop Off car park opposite the terminal.
That covers both quick drop-offs and longer stays, per the airport's help centre. Bring a chain; the spaces are outdoors.
Driven into the wrong car park
It happens often enough that the airport has a fix: drive to the exit, ignore the full charge on the screen and press the intercom.
The operator checks your booking and adjusts the fee, normally to the difference between the two car parks. Keep your booking reference handy. Pay-on-foot machines sit in Arrivals and on the ground floor of the multi-storey for anyone without a booking.
Picking up arriving passengers
Wait until your passenger has their bags, then drive in.
For a short, well-timed pick-up, Express works. For a flight that might be late, park in the multi-storey, where the airport's pay-on-foot machines make the exit simple, and meet in Arrivals. The free window at Drop Off 2 rarely covers baggage reclaim on a busy evening.
Staying nearby instead
Several hotels sit at the airport, so an early departure can start with a short walk rather than a pre-dawn drive.
Families from further afield sometimes find a night at an airport hotel plus parking easier than an early lift. Compare the cost with two drop-off runs before you decide.

Two trips to the airport, there and back twice, add up quickly for whoever is driving.

Where each area is
Express Drop Off & Pick Up and the multi-storey face the terminal; Drop Off 2 sits further out.
Follow the signs as you approach the final roundabout. Express is the closest, which is why it is charged from the first minute. Drop Off 2 trades the charge for a walk. The multi-storey is directly across from the terminal, and the Meet & Greet and Fast Track lanes sit off the RVP Road to the left before the roundabout, so do not follow those signs for a drop-off.
Paying on the way out
Express and the multi-storey are paid at the exit, and pay-on-foot machines sit in Arrivals and on the multi-storey's ground floor.
Paying before you walk back to the car saves time at the barrier, especially when several flights land together. Pre-booked drivers who hit a problem at a barrier can press the assistance button and give their booking reference.
Coaches, trailers and larger vehicles
Coaches and trailers need the airport's agreement in advance.
A vehicle that needs more than one space is booked through the airport's call centre rather than online. For a minibus drop-off, allow extra time and follow the signs rather than squeezing into the Express lanes.
Very early flights
Liverpool's first departures leave early, and the drop-off areas are busiest in the hour before them.
Leave a margin for a queue at the Express entrance on summer mornings. Dropping off at Drop Off 2 and walking in is often quicker than waiting in a line of cars for the closest bay.

The expensive mistakes at Liverpool are waiting in Express for a delayed flight, and coming back to Drop Off 2 too soon. Both are easy to avoid with a minute's planning before you leave home.

Express Drop Off & Pick Up is the shortest walk to the doors, and disabled bays are available in every car park.
For a passenger who needs assistance inside the terminal, book it with the airline in advance so someone meets them at the entrance. The multi-storey's covered walk of about a minute is a good alternative when you need to park and go in with them.
