Meet and greet at Liverpool comes in three forms: the airport's own service, where you post your keys into a kiosk; Imagine's, where a representative takes them beside the multi-storey; and Imagine Outdoor, a handover at Imagine's own site a short walk away. Unusually, all three cost less than parking in the multi-storey. Here is how each works and which suits your car.

Three ways to hand over your car

Liverpool has three handover services: the airport's own with a self-service key kiosk, Imagine's representative beside the multi-storey, and Imagine Outdoor at its own site nearby. All three leave you a short walk from check-in.

The multi-storey is in the table for a reason. At most airports, meet and greet costs more than parking beside the terminal. At Liverpool, all three handover services cost less.

The airport's service: lanes, a kiosk and a covered walkway

You leave the car in an arrival lane, post the keys into a self-service kiosk and walk to check-in under cover in about a minute.

  1. Take the RVP Road. Turn left before the final airport roundabout, where the signs say Fast Track Parking.
  2. Find the plinth. The Meet & Greet plinth is on the right.
  3. Use an arrival lane. Leave the car where the signs direct.
  4. Deposit your keys. At the self-service kiosk, then walk in along the covered walkway.

It suits people who would rather not wait for a driver. It does not take vans or minibuses. See the official Meet and Greet page.

Imagine: a representative by the multi-storey

Imagine's representative meets you in the drop-off area beside the multi-storey, after you call ahead from about ten minutes out.

Your car goes to Imagine's patrolled site and comes back to a meeting point agreed by phone when you land. The walk from the handover is two to three minutes. Because it uses the airport's Express Drop Off area, a drop-off charge applies on each visit, per the reseller listing. See the Imagine Meet and Greet page.

Imagine Outdoor: a handover at Imagine's own site

At Imagine Outdoor you drive to Imagine's reception on the Skypark estate, hand over the car and keys, and walk to the terminal in about four minutes.

It is the lowest price we compare at Liverpool. Some resellers call it park and ride, but there is no bus: staff park the car, and on return you call Imagine, walk back and collect your keys at reception. It runs 24 hours a day, closing only on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. See the Imagine Outdoor page.

Kiosk or representative

Of the two services that meet you beside the terminal, the airport's is cheaper; Imagine's takes taller vehicles and puts a person at the handover.

Coming home to a charged car

The airport's Meet & Greet offers Type 2 AC charging as a paid extra. The multi-storey has no chargers at all.

Long Stay has two chargers, but they are for short-term use, so a week-long trip is better served by the charging add-on. Book it with your parking and check the cable arrangement in your confirmation.

Vans, roof boxes and bigger cars

Bigger vehicles narrow the choice. The airport's service excludes vans and minibuses; Imagine accepts vehicles up to 2.5m, per the reseller listing.

For self-parking, Long Stay and the Fast Track car parks have no height limit, and the airport suggests Park Smart for larger vehicles. The multi-storey stops anything above its low barrier.

Meet and greet or Fast Track Parking

Fast Track Parking sits on the same RVP Road, a minute from the terminal, with security passes in the price.

Fast Track costs more than either handover service on our dates. It suits people who would have bought security passes anyway, or who want to keep their keys. See Official Fast Track Parking.

Travelling with children

A handover removes the hunt for a space and the walk across a car park with a pushchair.

The covered walkway from the official lanes keeps everyone dry. With four or more travellers, compare the Fast Track Family package too: it bundles four security passes and wider bays, and can cost less than buying the passes separately.

When your return flight is late

The airport's help centre lists a Meet & Greet overstay rate of £25 per 24 hours or part of a day, after a short grace period.

With Imagine, call the number in your confirmation as soon as you know about a delay, so the representative is not waiting at the wrong time. With the airport's service, there is no one to call on the way in, but it is still worth updating the booking if you know your return has moved by a day or more.

The cost per day

Over eight days, the per-day gap between the three options is small, but it adds up on a fortnight away.

OptionPer dayKeys
Official Meet & Greet£10.59Kiosk
Imagine Meet & Greet£11.34Representative
Official Multi-Storey£12.69You keep them

Multiply the per-day figure by your nights away to see the real difference. On a two-week holiday, the official service's saving over the multi-storey pays for a meal out.

Getting the car ready

A handover takes a couple of minutes when the car is ready for it.

  1. Empty the car. Take valuables and anything you need for the trip.
  2. Separate your keys. Hand over the car key only.
  3. Note the mileage. A quick photo of the dashboard helps if you need to query anything.
  4. Check your fuel or charge. Enough for the drive home when you land tired.

Changing your plans

Amend the booking before you travel whenever your dates change.

Bookings made with us can be cancelled free within 24 hours of booking. For Imagine, a phone call on the day handles small changes to your return time. For the airport's service, an overstay is charged per 24 hours after a short grace period, so an early amendment is cheaper. We keep the current code and the saving at each car park on our Liverpool parking discount codes page.

Timing your arrival

Plan to reach the handover about two hours before a short-haul departure.

The handover itself takes a few minutes, and the walk to check-in is short, so most of your margin goes on bag drop and security rather than the car. With Imagine, the call ten minutes out lets the representative be ready. With the airport's kiosk, there is nobody to call, so just allow a couple of minutes for the lanes. On summer mornings the RVP Road can queue, so leave a little extra.

Where the cars are kept

The airport describes patrols and CCTV at its car parks; Imagine describes a patrolled site with 24-hour staffing.

The airport describes 24-hour patrols and CCTV run by its own car park security team. The off-airport operators describe their own measures, which we pass on as their accounts. No Park Mark award is stated by the airport, so we do not claim one.

Meet and Greet at Liverpool: what people ask us

Imagine Parking Outdoor, where you hand over the car at Imagine's site a few minutes' walk away. Of the services that meet you beside the terminal, the airport's own is cheaper than Imagine's.

With Imagine, yes. With the airport's own service, you post them into a self-service kiosk instead.

Not to the airport's service, which excludes vans and minibuses. Imagine takes vehicles up to 2.5m high, per the reseller listing.

Yes. Both services cost less than the multi-storey over eight days on our dates.
