Charging near the airport
Donington Park motorway services on the M1, close to the airport, has public chargers. It is the easiest place to top up on the way in or on the way home.
Charging adds time to your journey, so allow for it before your check-in deadline. On the way home, a top-up there means you leave the airport area with plenty of range.

Choosing a car park with an EV
Any East Midlands car park works for an EV. The choice comes down to price, the length of the walk and the season.

JetParks keeps the cost lowest. Mid Stay and Short Stay keep the walk short and are open all year. Midlands Parking removes the bus and says charging can be requested.
Meet and greet and EV charging
Midlands Parking's own site says EV owners can request charging during storage, subject to availability. We have not confirmed the service, so ask before you book.
When charging matters, contact Midlands Parking before you book and get the arrangement confirmed in writing. The official VIP Meet & Greet does not list a charging option that we have found.
Planning an East Midlands trip in an EV
Charge at home, top up on the M1 if needed, and leave a margin for the drive home. Cold weather reduces range, so allow more in winter.
- Charge at home. Leave with as full a battery as you can.
- Top up on the way. Donington Park services on the M1 is close to the airport.
- Park and lock. Any zone works. Your car sits unplugged for the trip.
- Plan the drive home. Know where you will charge if the range is tight.
EVs and the winter season
Cold weather reduces an EV's range, and the airport closes JetParks and Long Stay over winter. Both point towards a shorter walk and a bigger range margin.
A car parked for a week or two in the cold can lose some charge. A drive home in cold weather also uses more. Leave a comfortable margin, and consider Mid Stay or Short Stay so the walk back to the car is short on a dark evening.
Electric vans and larger EVs
The official meet and greet has a 2-metre height limit. Midlands Parking takes vehicles under 2 metres wide that fit a standard bay.

What an EV trip costs at East Midlands
An EV pays the same parking price as any other car at East Midlands. There is no EV surcharge or discount on the prices we compare.
Your extra cost is the charging itself, at home or on the M1, rather than anything at the airport. That keeps the comparison simple: pick the car park for its price, walk and season, then plan your charging around the journey.
Charging on the way home
Know where you will charge before you collect your car. After a flight, the last thing you want is a range warning on the M1.
Check your battery level in the car's app while you wait for your bags, where your car supports it. When the range is tight, Donington Park services on the M1 is close to the airport and the natural first stop. For a longer drive, plan your route's charging stops before you travel, so there is no guesswork late at night.
A short walk back to the car also helps on a cold evening. Mid Stay and Short Stay keep that walk to a few minutes, and both are open all year.
What we checked
We looked for EV charging that you can book or rely on at each East Midlands car park. We did not find any we could confirm, so this page does not list chargers by car park.
A charger that exists but cannot be booked, or that sits in a car park you are not parking in, does not help you on the day. We only list charging when we can confirm where it is and who can use it. When the airport confirms charging for parking customers, we will add it here with the details.
Operators sometimes offer charging on request, as Midlands Parking says it does. We mention that on this page because the operator says so, but we treat it as something to confirm before booking, not a promise.
