Per day, the gap between Green Oaks and Car Park 1 is large. For a week away, most travellers find the cheaper sites fine; for a night, the terminal multi-storeys cost little extra.
The cheapest official car park
Car Park 7 is the airport's lowest price, and Car Park 5 the lowest where you keep your keys.
Car Park 7 is across the runway; pre-booked customers leave their keys at the office and ride a courtesy bus. Car Park 5 is a walk of five to ten minutes, with a free bus every 15 minutes and no height limit. Both are covered by the airport's Park Mark statement. Cheap and open all night
Green Oaks stops overnight; APL does not.
For a flight landing after midnight, APL is the cheapest 24-hour option we sell. The airport's own Car Parks 4 and 5 also run buses round the clock.
Hidden costs to check
A low headline price can carry extras.
Resellers say Green Oaks does not include airport access fees. Overstays at off-airport sites have their own daily rates, such as £20 at APH Drop & Go after its discretionary grace period. Read the confirmation, and amend dates before you travel.
Booking early to hold the lower rate
Prices rise as dates fill, and the cheapest sites sell out first.
Book as soon as flights are fixed, especially for half-terms and summer. Our code takes 30% off every product, and the airport says pre-booking saves up to 70% against its turn-up tariff.
Cheap parking for families
For a family, the cheapest price is not the whole story.
A shuttle with children and luggage takes time at both ends. Car Park 5 lets you keep your keys and drive straight home; Car Park 4 has a covered walk. Weigh the saving against the effort for your group.
Cheap parking for larger vehicles
Car Park 5 is the cheapest option with no height limit.
Most off-airport sites stop at 2 to 2.1 metres. For a campervan or tall van, Car Park 5 is both the cheapest and the simplest choice.
Per-day costs compared
Per day, the cheapest sites cost well under half of the terminal car parks.
For a week away, the difference between Green Oaks and Car Park 1 is well over £70 with our code on our sample prices. For a night, it is a few pounds. The cheaper the product, the more you trade in keys and transfer time; the longer the trip, the more that trade pays.
Paying a little more for a short bus
The Short Run products and APH Express cut the transfer to a few minutes.

The expensive way to park
Turning up without a booking is the most expensive option at Birmingham.
The airport's turn-up rate at Car Park 5 is £67 a day, several times the pre-booked price with our code. Even for a night, booking ahead usually saves money.
Off-peak dates
The same car park costs less outside school holidays.
Prices move with demand. When dates are flexible, travelling outside half-terms and the summer holidays lowers the parking bill as well as the fares.
Security at the budget end
The cheapest sites describe fencing, CCTV and patrols.
Green Oaks and APL listings describe CCTV coverage, a 24-hour patrol, barriers and fencing. The airport says all its car parks hold Park Mark safer parking status, with CCTV and regular patrols. We report operator claims as their own. Wherever you park, take valuables with you.
Cheap parking for a short trip
For a night or two, the cheapest option may not be the off-airport one.
Minimum stays do not apply at Birmingham, but the time spent on a bus matters more on a short trip. Car Park 5 or Car Parks 2 and 3, with our code, can cost only a little more for a night and save time at both ends.
