Short stay options

Manchester's short stay parking means the two terminal multi-storeys, with Mid Stay P12 as a cheaper walk-in alternative.

T2 West Multi Storey (P3)

T2 West is beside Terminal 2 and has run barrierless since 25 March 2026.

Cameras read your plate; there are no pay machines on site. Pre-booked drivers simply drive out. Turn-up drivers pay online. The Terminal 2 pick-up area is in this car park.

T3 Multi Storey (P14)

T3 Multi Storey sits beside Terminal 3 and costs less than T2 West on our dates.

Turn-up drivers pay at machines in and around the terminal or at the exit barrier. Both multi-storeys have a 2m height limit and a ten-day maximum stay.

The turn-up tariff

The airport's turn-up tariff for the multi-storeys runs from £6.60 for 15 minutes to £63.40 for up to 24 hours.

Pre-booking against turning up

For anything over a few hours, pre-booking wins by a wide margin.

A day at the turn-up rate costs close to what a pre-booked week costs at the budget end. Even for a one-night business trip, a pre-booked space in T3 Multi Storey usually costs less than two days on the gate. Book the exact dates and the saving comes off with our code on top.

Mid Stay P12 for short trips

Mid Stay Multi Storey has no minimum stay, which makes it a short-stay option too.

The covered walk to Terminal 2 takes about 10 to 15 minutes, and the price is lower than either terminal multi-storey. The airport restricts some heavier vehicles, so check its eligibility tool first.

Business trips

For one or two nights, park beside your terminal.

A late return after a meeting is when a short walk matters most. T3 Multi Storey is the value choice at Terminal 3; T2 West is closest at Terminal 2. With the airport's six-hour grace period on overstays, a delayed return flight rarely costs extra.

Short stays for pick-ups

At Terminal 2, pick-ups use a dedicated area in T2 West, up to 15 minutes.

Height limits

Both multi-storeys have a 2m height limit.

Roof boxes and some vans will not fit. For a taller vehicle, the JetParks or APH, with its 2.4m limit, are the short-trip alternatives, with a bus ride.

Old names, new numbers

Terminal 1 closed in March 2026, and the airport renumbered its car parks into a P1 to P16 scheme at the same time.

Short stay car parks that guides still call T1 or T2 East have new roles: the old T1 multi-storey is Mid Stay (P12), and T2 East is now Meet & Greet (P1).

P3 or P14

Book the multi-storey beside your terminal.

Walking between terminals is possible, but with luggage, the car park beside your own terminal saves time.

Using a barrierless car park

At T2 West, you simply drive in and out.

Cameras record your number plate as you enter and leave. With a booking, there is nothing to do. Without one, pay online after your visit; there are no machines on site. It is easy to forget, so set a reminder before you drive away.

The ten-day limit

The airport caps stays in its multi-storeys at ten days.

For a longer trip, use Mid Stay, the JetParks or an off-airport site. Those also cost less per day, so a long trip in a multi-storey rarely makes sense anyway. For three to seven nights, Mid Stay is often the sweet spot between price and distance, with a walk rather than a bus.

The six-hour grace period

Overstay charges apply only if you leave more than six hours after the time on your booking.

That covers most delayed return flights. Beyond six hours, the airport charges its overstay rate. Changes of up to six hours to your arrival or departure time need no amendment, per the airport's FAQs.

Short trips with children

A multi-storey keeps the walk short with a pushchair.

For a weekend away, the terminal multi-storey saves carrying bags onto a bus. Check the 2m height limit if you use a roof box for a pushchair or travel cot. Note your level and bay before you walk away; tired children and a car park search at midnight do not mix. A photo of the level sign on your phone takes a second and saves a lot of wandering later.

Electric cars

The airport does not list EV charging in its terminal multi-storeys on its short stay pages.

For a short trip, leave home with enough range for the return. For a longer trip with charging, APH's EV option charges the car to full while you are away, from its Sharston site with a bus to the terminals.

Avoiding surprise charges

Most short stay surprises come from forgetting to pay online at T2 West or picking up in the wrong place.

At T2 West there is no machine to remind you, so pay online straight after a turn-up visit. Pick-ups belong in the pick-up area in T2 West, not the drop-off forecourt, where the airport charges £100. Pre-booking avoids both problems for anything longer than a quick stop, and the code takes 30% off the pre-booked price.

Security

Number plate recognition runs the airport's car parks.

Manchester Airport describes itself as an IPC accredited parking provider and uses number plate recognition across its car parks. It does not publish a Park Mark statement, so we do not claim one. The off-airport operators describe their own security, and we pass on their accounts without having inspected the sites.
