The jump after ten minutes is steep, so unload quickly. The Terminal 2 drop-off postcode is M90 5PH; the Terminal 3 forecourt is M90 1QX.
Paying and penalties
Pay online or by phone by midnight the day after. There is no way to pay on the way out.
Cameras read your number plate, so the charge follows the car, whoever was driving. The airport's phone line for payment is 03459 013318, and an AutoPay account takes payment automatically after each visit. Miss the deadline and a £100 charge follows, reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days.
Never pick up in a drop-off area
Picking up a passenger in a drop-off area costs £100, per the airport.
Waiting in a drop-off lane for an arriving passenger is treated as a pick-up. Use the pick-up area or a car park instead.
Picking up at Terminal 2
Terminal 2 pick-ups use the pick-up area in T2 West Multi Storey (P3): up to 15 minutes for £6.60.
The postcode is M90 5PR. The maximum stay is 15 minutes, and staying longer triggers a £60 overstay charge, per the airport. For a longer wait, park in the multi-storey on the turn-up tariff instead.
Picking up at Terminal 3
At Terminal 3, collect passengers from T3 Multi Storey (P14).
Turn-up drivers pay at the machines in and around the terminal or at the exit barrier. Meet your passenger in arrivals and walk back to the car together. Resellers give M90 1NN for the Terminal 3 pick-up car park.
The free option: JetParks 1
JetParks 1 on Thorley Lane (M90 5AZ) lets you drop off free for up to 60 minutes, with a shuttle to Terminal 2.
The shuttle runs every 15 minutes, 24/7, and takes about five minutes to Terminal 2. It runs one way only, from the car park to the terminal, so it suits drop-offs but not collecting arrivals. A £25 fee applies after 60 minutes, or for re-entering within 30 minutes, per reseller listings.
Blue Badge holders
Blue Badge holders can use the forecourt drop-off areas free of charge, for dropping off only.
The concession does not cover pick-ups. For collecting a passenger who needs help, park in the multi-storey and walk in together, or book assistance with the airline so someone meets them. Blue Badge parking bays are also available in the airport's car parks for longer stays.
How the charge has changed
The shortest drop-off charge was £5.00 in 2025 and has risen by about 10% since.
That is a rise of about 10%. The structure, with a steep step after ten minutes and a 30-minute cap, has stayed the same. Older guides may still quote the lower figure.

Taxis and hire cars
The charges apply to every vehicle, including taxis and hire cars.
Ask your taxi firm whether the fare includes the drop-off charge. With a hire car, the charge is linked to the plate, and a hire company may add an admin fee to an unpaid charge. Pay it yourself online the same day to avoid that.
Rail and tram instead
Manchester Airport has its own railway station and Metrolink tram stop beside the terminals.
A lift to a station further out, then the train or tram, avoids the drop-off charge and the airport roads. For solo travellers with light luggage, that can be the simplest trip of all. The station sits between the terminals, so the walk to check-in is short, and the trams and trains run from early morning.
Early mornings
The drop-off lanes are busiest in the hour before the first departures.
On summer mornings, queues can build on the approach to Terminal 2. Have your passenger ready to step out with bags easy to reach, and keep the stop short, because the charge steps up after ten minutes. Pay as soon as you are back on the road, while you remember.
Setting up AutoPay
AutoPay takes the charge automatically after each visit, so there is no deadline to miss.
You create an account and add a card, and the airport takes payment after each journey. For anyone who drops off regularly, it removes the risk of a penalty for forgetting. It is also handy for a family car used by several drivers.
When an arriving flight is late
The Terminal 2 pick-up area allows 15 minutes, which a delay can easily exceed.
Do not wait in a drop-off lane or circle the airport roads. Park in a multi-storey on the turn-up tariff, check the flight status, and walk into arrivals when the passenger has their bags. The extra few pounds is less than an overstay charge.
Passengers who need help
Park and walk in with them rather than using a drop-off lane.
Blue Badge holders drop off free on the forecourt, but a passenger who needs help getting inside is better served by parking in a multi-storey and walking them to check-in. Book assistance with the airline in advance for help through security.
What a lift really costs
A drop-off and a pick-up can add up to more than a few days' parking.
A ten-minute drop-off and a 15-minute pick-up at Terminal 2 together cost over £13, before the fuel for two return trips. For a week away, the budget car parks can cost less than that once the driver's time is counted. For a short trip, a lift is usually cheaper.
