Park and ride here means the airport's two JetParks, APH at Sharston, Maple at Carrington and several unlisted operators.

JetParks: the official shuttles

JetParks 3 runs buses every 15 minutes to both terminals; JetParks 1 serves Terminal 2 in about five minutes.

You keep your keys, and both need a stay of three days or more. JetParks 1 is on Thorley Lane, and resellers describe a gravel surface there. See the JetParks page.

APH at Sharston

APH's bus runs every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day, and takes about ten minutes.

Park & Ride means handing your keys to reception; the EV version charges the car to full while you are away; Self Park lets you keep your keys. On return you wait at bus stop H outside your terminal. See the APH page.

Maple at Carrington

Maple is the cheapest park and ride we compare, with the longest ride: 20 to 30 minutes.

Staff park the car, and you call for the return shuttle. For a long trip where every pound counts, it is hard to beat; for an early flight, allow extra time. See the Maple page.

We have not verified their operating details yet, so they have no guide pages. Read the confirmation for the address, the transfer and the key arrangements before you travel.

Transfers side by side

The ride is short from most sites; Maple's is the exception.

How long to allow

Allow 30 minutes from the car park gate to the terminal door, and 45 from Maple.

That covers checking in or parking, the wait for a bus and the ride. On summer mornings, leave extra time for queues at security as well. The JetParks and APH buses run through the night, so very early flights are covered.

Minimum stays

The JetParks need at least three days.

For a shorter trip, use APH, the Mid Stay Multi Storey (P12), which has no minimum, or a terminal multi-storey. The minimum is set per booking, so a three-night stay qualifies but a two-night weekend does not. Check the dates carefully before you choose JetParks.

Charging on park and ride

APH's EV option charges your car to full while you are away.

Bring your own cable to reception and arrive with at least 5% charge. It costs more than standard Park & Ride. See our Manchester EV charging page.

Park and ride for pick-ups

JetParks 1's free hour is for drop-offs, not pick-ups.

Its shuttle runs one way, from the car park to Terminal 2. For collecting arrivals, use the Terminal 2 pick-up area or a multi-storey. See our Manchester drop-off and pick-up page.

Old guides and Terminal 1

Terminal 1 closed in March 2026, and the airport renumbered its car parks into a P1 to P16 scheme at the same time.

Some older pages still say the JetParks serve Terminal 1. Follow your confirmation.

Keys or no keys

Keep your keys at the JetParks and APH Self Park.

Maple and APH Park & Ride hold your keys so staff can park cars closely, which keeps prices down. Keeping your keys costs a little more but suits keyless and high-value cars. Remove house keys from the ring whichever you choose.

Luggage and the bus

The buses take cases, but space is shared at busy times.

With skis, golf clubs or a pushchair, allow extra time for loading, or consider Mid Stay, where you walk in under cover. Families of five or more may wait for the next bus on a busy summer morning.

Coming home

Each operator has its own pick-up point outside the terminal.

JetParks buses leave from signed stops; APH uses bus stop H; Maple asks you to call and then wait at its stop. Follow the instructions in your confirmation, and keep your phone charged for the call.

Cheapest or best value

It depends on how much the extra time is worth to you.

Maple saves the most, but its ride is the longest. JetParks 3 is cheap, official and quick. APH sits between them with a short bus and three product choices. Weigh the time against the saving for your trip, then book ahead. On a long holiday, the saving usually wins; on a short trip, the time does. Park and ride with children

Pack so the bus is easy.

Let older children carry their own small bags, keep the pushchair folded and ready, and keep snacks and water to hand for the ride home, when the wait can feel longest. With several young children and lots of cases, a handover product removes the bus altogether.

Winter mornings

The buses run through the night, but winter mornings are cold at the bus stop.

Dress for waiting outside, and leave a scraper and de-icer in the car for the return. Buses can queue at the terminal stops on busy evenings, so allow a little extra time on the way home too. At JetParks 1, the gravel surface can be muddy after rain, per reseller descriptions, so sensible shoes help.

Security

The airport's JetParks use number plate recognition; APH and Maple describe CCTV, patrols and fencing.

Manchester Airport describes itself as an IPC accredited parking provider and uses number plate recognition across its car parks. It does not publish a Park Mark statement, so we do not claim one. The off-airport operators describe their own security, and we pass on their accounts without having inspected the sites.
